SEASON OF CREATION
The Season of Creation from Thursday 1 September to Tuesday 4 October (Feast of St Francis of Assisi) has a special significance for the Catholic Church, particularly since Pope Francis established 1 September as an annual World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation. This season celebrates the joy of creation as well as encouraging awareness-raising initiatives to protect our natural environment. This year’s theme is ‘Listen to the Voice of Creation’.

Parent and Toddlers’ Group Lapóglann - Toddle Inn will recommence in September. Glór na Speiríní are now providing three mornings a week:

Derry Diocesan Catechetical Centre, working in Partnership with St Mary’s University, Twickenham, offers the Masters in Catholic School Leadership. This post-graduate degree is dedicated to the professional development and spiritual formation of Catholic school leaders. It is a great opportunity for those currently in leadership roles and those who aspire to, or have an interest in, leadership roles within the Catholic School system. NATIONAL SYNTHESIS OF THE SYNODAL PROCESS
The Irish Bishops' Conference has published the National Synthesis of the Synodal Process conducted across the Church in Ireland from Autumn 2021. The National Synthesis is the fruit of a wide-ranging process of listening and consultation and is based on the syntheses produced by the 26 dioceses in Ireland, as well as those submitted by religious congregations and other interested groups. The National Synthesis will be forwarded to Rome as part of the worldwide synodal process of listening and discernment launched by Pope Francis in October 2021 and which will culminate in the General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops in Rome in 2023.

DERRY DIOCESAN PILGRIMAGE TO KNOCK
Ballinascreen Parish Choir has been invited to sing at the forthcoming Diocesan Pilgrimage to Knock on Saturday September 24. This is a great honour for the Choir and the Parish. If you have never been to Knock, this will be a great opportunity to bring the family to Ireland’s National Shrine to Our Lady. This pilgrimage will be led by Bishop Donal McKeown.
Stations of the Cross at 2:00 pm followed by Mass at 3:00 pm with Sacrament of the Sick.

SAFEGUARDING IN DERRY DIOCESE
The Derry Diocese has invited the National Board for Safeguarding Children in the Catholic Church in Ireland to conduct a review of safeguarding practice. This review will commence with the Safeguarding Sunday Mass on 18 September in St Columb’s Church, Waterside at 3.00 pm. Everyone welcome to attend this Mass. The review will continue from Monday 19 September to Friday 23 September 2022.
