FEAST OF THE WEEK
Monday 8: International Day of Prayer and Awareness against Human Trafficking. This was first observed in 2015 on the memorial of St Josephine Bakhita, who lived from 1868- 1947. She was a native of Sudan brought as a slave to Italy where she became a Christian and later entered the Institute of Canossian Daughters of Charity in Venice.
Wednesday 10: St Scholastica, virgin, died c 543, sister of St Benedict.
World Day for Consecrated Life.
Thursday 11: Our Lady of Lourdes. On this day in 1858, Our Lady first appeared to fourteen year old Bernadette Sourbirous. In 1992 Pope John Paul II instituted the World Day of the Sick to be held on the commemoration of Our Lady of Lourdes. This day provides a time to pause and be prayerfully in solidarity with those who are sick and with all who care for the sick.

Daily Mass which will be available ONLY via webcam, will be celebrated as follows:
From Monday to Thursday Mass will be followed by a period of online Eucharistic Adoration until 12 noon. The Angelus will then be recited followed by the Novena Prayers to Our Lady of Lourdes.

FRIDAY MASSES - PARISH ANNIVERSARY AND MONTH'S MIND MASSES
Parish Anniversary Masses will be held every Friday and presently will only be available via the respective parish webcam. 11.00 am in St Mary's Coolcalm and 7.30 pm in Holy Rosary Church.
If parishioners wish to have their loved one prayed for at these Anniversary Friday Masses, please email their name to Ballinascreen Parish Office by 12 noon on Thursday of the relevant week.

PRIVATE PRAYER TIMES
In line with current regulations, Holy Rosary Church will close during all Masses and devotions but will open this week for Private Prayer as follows:

Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday:12 noon – 4.00 pm
Sunday: 1.00 pm – 4.00 pm.
HEALTH NOTICE:
Upon entering Holy Rosary Church for Private Prayer, parishioners are reminded that it is vitally important that after sanitising hands, they lift one of the yellow cards and leave it on the seat where they sat. These seats will be later cleaned in line with current regulations. Thank you.

DRAPERSTOWN LIBRARY
Library will be open from 10.00 am - 1.00 pm and 2.00 pm - 4.00 pm on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, for book and collect services only.
Readers may telephone the library during these hours and request books for adults or children.
The Library also stocks a collection of AR (Accelerated Reading) books for children to borrow.
Currently readers cannot browse in the library, but may ask staff to select books for them – by phone preferably.
If you know of anyone elderly or shielding who would like to borrow books, and have them delivered free to their homes, please contact a member of the library staff.
Due to Covid 19 restrictions computers are also unfortunately not accessible in the library at this time.

STATEMENT BY BISHOP MICHAEL ROUTER AUXILIARY BISHOP OF ARMAGH AND CHAIR OF THE COUNCIL FOR HEALTHCARE OF THE IRISH CATHOLIC BISHOPS` CONFERENCE ON POPE’S MESSAGE FOR THE WORLD DAY OF THE SICK 2021.
The Pope reminds us that, as Christians, we should always practice what we preach and reach out in a tangible way to those who are sick and suffering, particularly the marginalised and the poor. Thankfully, so many people, through both secular and religious groups, are doing so by reaching out to those who most need help in their local communities. Such outreach has provided a beacon of hope and positivity in an otherwise challenging time.
Pope Francis emphasises that sickness makes us very aware of our own vulnerability, our need for the care and assistance of others and our dependence on God. Illness is experienced at more than just a physical level. It can also be accompanied by fear and bewilderment, particularly, when we are faced with our own powerless. Sickness normally raises questions about the meaning of life which we bring in faith before God.
Health is essential for the common good, therefore, care and assistance for the sick should always be a priority.
At the heart of the Pope’s message is an insistence that for therapy to be effective it must have a “relational aspect” which can enable a more holistic approach to the patient. There must be a relationship of trust between healthcare professionals and those who receive their care and expertise. Pope Francis describes it as a relationship based on “mutual trust and respect, openness and availability”. He points to the example of Jesus in the gospel who “heals not by magic but as the result of an encounter, an interpersonal relationship”.
The Pope also states that a society is truly human when it cares effectively for the sick and suffering in a spirit of communal love. We must all strive to make sure “that no one will feel alone, excluded or abandoned”.
Pope Francis entrusts the sick, healthcare workers, and all those who assist the suffering to the care of Our Lady.

The Irish Catholic Bishops have asked for prayers for those affected by the Coronavirus. Placing all our trust in the Lord, and asking Our Lady to intercede for us, the bishops invite everyone to pray these prayers:
