FEASTS OF THE WEEK
Wednesday 29: St Martha, sister of Lazarus and Mary, a woman of faith wo made her profession of faith in Christ as the Son of God, and in the Resurrection. In wecoming a guest we welcome Christ: we show our Christian spirit of service; and we ready ourselves to be welcomed as guests in the Kingdom of God. Patron of innkeepers, cooks and dieticians.
Thursday 30: St Peter Chrysologus, died 450, Bishop of Ravenna, famous for his preaching.
Friday 31: St Ignatius of Loyola, 1491 – 1556. From the north of Spain, founded the Society of Jesus. By the time of his death, the society had spread widely and had over 1000 members. His great themem was the service of God and God’s greater glory. The experience of his conversion led to his writing of the Spiritual Exercises.
Saturday 1: St Alphonsus Liguori, 1696 – 1787, founder of the Redemptorist Congregation, taught much on moral theology and the spiritual life. He is remembered as a popular preacher and influential writer of theology.
PARISH ANNIVERSARY MASSES (FRIDAY)
From next Friday July 31, the morning Mass will be celebrated at 10.00 am in St Mary's Coolcalm and the evening Mass will be celebrated at 7.30 pm in Holy Rosary Church. If parishioners wish to have their loved one prayed for at these Anniversary Friday Masses, you MUST email their name to Ballinascreen Parish Office by 12 noon on Thursday of the relevant week. PRIVATE PRAYER TIME - HOLY ROSARY CHURCH
Holy Rosary Church will be open for private prayer this week ONLY on Tuesday and Thursday from 11.00 am – 1.00 pm.
VIGIL AND SUNDAY MASSES
Saturday Vigils and Sunday Masses for different areas of the parish will commence this weekend 18 and 19 July.
Masses will be held as follows
5.00 pm Vigil Mass in St Eugene’s Church, Moneyneena.
6.15 pm Vigil Mass in Holy Rosary Church
9.00 am Sunday Mass in St Columba’s Church, Straw
11.00 am Sunday Mass in St Patrick’s Sixtowns
12 noon Sunday Mass in Holy Rosary Church.
Church doors will open 30 minutes before Mass starts.
Because of the new guidelines re social distancing the number of parishioners that may attend each Mass is limited. Therefore each Mass, over a four week cycle, will be for certain areas of the parish.
Full details of this four week cycle will be displayed on all Church doors, on the Parish Office window and on the parish website and on Facebook.
It is very important to note that the Sunday Obligation to attend Mass continues to be suspended.
Parish Mass will still be available via the web-cam from Holy Rosary Church on Saturday at 6.15 pm and Sunday at 12.00 noon
Only families residing in the same household can sit together.
Churches will be closed when the available seats are taken. People can remain in the carpark listen to Mass over the external speakers or watch Mass via the webcam (Holy Rosary Church only) and receive Holy Communion once Mass is ﬁnished and the congregation have left the Church.
