BULLETIN NOTES

FEAST OF THE WEEK

Friday 19: The Most Sacred Heart of Jesus

2020 SACRED HEART NOVENA

The Sacred Heart Novena continues until Friday 19 June, the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

Devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus is considered a symbol of "God's boundless and passionate love for humanity". Many have found comfort and solace praying the Novena, and this year we have particular reason as a community, a nation and a global people to find strength, patience and reassurance in God’s love for us.

The 2020 Novena is available to download for FREE from the Sacred Heart Messenger website.

Novena prayer

Lord Jesus, you have said, ‘Ask and you shall receive, seek and you shall find, knock and it shall be opened unto you’. I come to you in faith and trust, in love and hope. Let me know your closeness to me, and your care for me and all who are dear to me.

My intention for this Novena is dear to me, and I know that what is important to me is important to you. Hear my prayer (mention your intention).

Grant what I ask, and may I always trust that in all that happens in life, you will be close to me as my friend, guide and saviour. And so, Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place all my trust in you.

DONATE OPTION ON WEBSITE

You will notice on the Parish of Ballinascreen Webpage, (https://www.parishofballinascreen.com), there is now a DONATE button. Those who do not use Sunday Envelopes or Standing Orders may like to avail of this service.

The button can be used by anyone who would like to make a one-off donation as well.

Like any online payment service, you will be asked to sign in with your name, address, telephone number, create a password and the credit or debit card number you are going to use. Once you do that you can then donate.

Many of our younger wage earners may like to use this method of supporting their parish, either weekly or monthly.

PARISH COLLECTIONS

Many thanks to all who have returned parish envelopes, established standing orders or have made online payments. As detailed above the Donate button is now live on the parish website. Envelopes may be returned to the Parish Office or Parochial Houses or placed in the secure box in Holy Rosary Church.

Online Retreat Days continue on 13 and 18 June.

From Saturday 27 – Monday 29 June people can do the Three Day Pilgrimage from afar, along with the Prior and the Lough Derg team.

SPIRITUAL COMMUNION PRAYER

My Jesus, I believe that you desire to make your home within me and that you are present in the Most Holy Sacrament of the altar.

I love you above all things, and I desire to receive you in my soul.

Since I cannot at this moment receive you sacramentally, come spiritually into my heart.

I embrace your love as if you were already there, and unite myself wholly to you.

Never permit me to be separated from you.

Amen.

POPE FRANCIS @PONTIFEX

If we draw God’s mercy, forgiveness, and tenderness from the #Heart Of Jesus, then our heart too will gradually become more patient, more generous, and more merciful.

PRAYERS FOR OUR PROTECTION

The Irish Catholic Bishops have asked for prayers for those affected by the Coronavirus. Placing all our trust in the Lord, and asking Our Lady to intercede for us, the bishops invite everyone to pray these prayers:

EXTRACT FROM SAINT PATRICK’S BREASTPLATE

Christ with me, Christ before me, Christ behind me, Christ in me, Christ beneath me, Christ above me, Christ on my right, Christ on my left, Christ when I lie down, Christ when I sit down, Christ when I arise, Christ in the heart of everyone who thinks of me, Christ in the mouth of everyone who speaks of me, Christ in every eye that sees me, Christ in every ear that hears me.

MEMORARE

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help, or sought your intercession was left unaided. Inspired with this confidence, I fly to you,

O Virgin of virgins, my Mother. To you I come, before you I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in your mercy, hear and answer. Amen.
