PARISH BAPTISMS

In accordance with the most recent Government statement and the latest guidelines issued by Bishop McKeown there will be no baptisms until further notice.

Baptisms will resume as soon as possible, but we ask parents not to be anxious. It is customary nowadays for children to be baptised many weeks and months after they are born. Parents can bless their children with the Sign of the Cross morning and evening and recite the Guardian Angel Prayer for them often: Angel of God My guardian dear To whom God’s love Commits me here Ever this day Be at my side To light and guard To rule and guide.

Amen.

WEDDINGS

Following the Government statement during the week, Bishop Donal McKeown, has also directed that all weddings be suspended until further notice. Couples who have booked weddings for the coming weeks can email the Parish Office should they wish to reserve a future date.

PARISH ANNIVERSARY MASS

If parishioners in Ballinascreen and Desertmartin wish to have their loved one prayed for at the 10.00 am Mass in Holy Rosary or the 7.30 pm Mass in Coolcam on a Friday, you MUST give their name to Ballinascreen Parish Office by 12 noon on Thursday of the relevant week. You may contact the office by phone or email. These Masses from the Holy Rosary and St. Mary's Coolcalm may be viewed on the respective Parish webcam.

DERRY DIOCESE LENTEN PRAYER

Loving Father,

to prepare for His mission of proclaiming

Your kingdom to the world

Your Son Jesus was guided by

Your Holy Spirit to the quiet of the desert.

In these Lenten days,

I pray that I will be guided by that same Spirit,

to a place of renewal in my heart and mind, so that I will seek opportunities for daily personal prayer, personal sacrifices and acts of kindness.

With Your help, may I too be truly prepared to share in the story of the passion, death and resurrection of Jesus Your Son, our Lord. Amen

CONSECRATION OF IRELAND TO THE IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY

On Wednesday last, 25 March, Feast of the Annunciation, at the request of Archbishop Eamon Martin, Archbishop of Armagh and Primate of All Ireland, Bishop Donal McKeown consecrated the people of our parish, our diocese and the people of Ireland to the Immaculate Heart of Mary for protection form the Coronavirus. Below is the Prayer of Consecration.

PRAYER OF CONSECRATION

Most Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God and Health of the Sick, at this time of great challenge to our country from the coronavirus, we consecrate to Jesus through your Immaculate Heart:

ourselves, our family, the members of our parish and Diocese, and the people of Ireland. O Mary, Queen of Ireland, when you appeared at Knock, you gave hope to your people in a time of distress, and brought them comfort in a time of sorrow. Be with us now as a sign of salvation and hope, as we entrust ourselves to your loving care. We renew the promises of our Baptism and Confirmation and ask your intercession that we may be always faithful to Christ and to His Church. Bring under your mantle of protection all those who are suffering because of the coronavirus, and those who care for the sick and minister to their needs, as your Son implores us to do for one another. O Loving Mother, at the foot of the Cross, with steadfast faith, your Immaculate Heart was pierced by grief at the suffering of your Son. You know what we need during these difficult days. Help us, O Mother of Divine Love, to conform ourselves to the Father’s will and to do what Jesus tells us - He who took our sufferings upon Himself, and bore our sorrows to bring us, through the Cross, to the joy of the Resurrection. O Blessed Mother, Our Life, our Sweetness and Our Hope,

we wish that this Consecration be for the glory of God and that it lead us safely to Jesus your Son. A Naomh-Mhuire, a Mháthair Dé, guigh orainn na peacaigh, anois agus ar uair ár mbáis. Amen.

PRAYERS FOR OUR PROTECTION

The Irish Catholic Bishops have asked for prayers for those affected by the Coronavirus. Placing all our trust in the Lord, and asking Our Lady to intercede for us, the bishops invite everyone to pray these prayers:

EXTRACT FROM SAINT PATRICK’S BREASTPLATE

Christ with me, Christ before me, Christ behind me, Christ in me, Christ beneath me, Christ above me, Christ on my right, Christ on my left, Christ when I lie down, Christ when I sit down, Christ when I arise, Christ in the heart of everyone who thinks of me, Christ in the mouth of everyone who speaks of me, Christ in every eye that sees me, Christ in every ear that hears me.

MEMORARE

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help, or sought your intercession was left unaided. Inspired with this confidence, I fly to you,

O Virgin of virgins, my Mother. To you I come, before you I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in your mercy, hear and answer. Amen.
