FEASTS OF THE WEEK

Monday 3: St Blaise.

Wednesday 5: St Agatha, virgin and martyr.

Thursday 6: St Paul Miki and Companions, martyred at Nagasaki, Japan in 1597. The six Franciscans, seventeen Franciscan Tertiaries and three Jesuits died suspended on crosses.

Saturday 8: International Day of Prayer and Awareness against Human Trafficking. This day was first observed in 2015 on the memorial of Sr Josephine Bakhita,1868 – 1947. She was brought as a slave from Sudan to Italy, where she became a Christian and later entered a convent in Venice.

BLESSING OF THROATS

Throats will be blessed on Monday February 3, the Feast of St Blaise, after the 10.00 am Mass in Holy Rosary Church and after the Padre Pio Mass at 7.30 pm in Holy Rosary Church.

SERVICE OF LIGHT

Service of Light for Primary 7 children on today Sunday 2 February at 5.00 pm in Holy Rosary Church. All P7 children and parents are warmly invited to attend this very special service which forms part of their preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation which they will receive in April.

EUCHARISTIC ADORATION

Eucharistic Adoration in Holy Rosary Church on Monday 3 February will commence after the 10.00 am Mass and will continue until 7.25 pm.

  • If you are willing to become a regular Adorer in the Parish each Monday please sign your name in the register in Holy Rosary porch.

PADRE PIO MASS

Monthly Mass in honour of St Pio of Pietrelcina will be celebrated on Monday 3 February at 7.30 pm in Holy Rosary Church.

NIGHT OF REMEMBRANCE

Prayer Service on Wednesday 19 February at 7.30 pm in Holy Rosary Church, to remember all who have been lost through suicide and to offer strength, courage and hope to all who need it. Bishop Donal McKeown, Bishop of Derry will be the guest speaker. If you would like your loved one’s photo included in the service please email a copy to mentalhealthsteps@gmail.com. All welcome.

Baptisms will be held on Sunday 16 February at 3.00 pm in St Columba’s Church Straw.

A baptism card is to be completed when booking. Please contact the Parish Office to book a baptism.

PARISH ANNIVERSARY MASS

The Friday 7.30 pm Mass in St Columba’s Church Straw is offered as an anniversary Mass for deceased parishioners. If you wish to have your loved one prayed for at this Mass you MUST give their name to the Parish Office by Thursday of the relevant week. These names will also be read out at the 10.00 am Mass on Friday mornings (exception when this 10.00 am Mass is cancelled).

A NIGHT OF HOPE

On tonight Sunday 2 February at 7.00 pm in St. Mary's Church Bellaghy. Artists include St. Mary's Youth Choir, Ward Sisters, Gribbin Girls, Oonagh Clarke, Robinsons Sisters, Justin McGurk, Fiddler Adam, Michael Mawhinney and Cloughfin Pipe Band. There will also be two Mental Health Guest Speakers. Admission ~ voluntary donation. All proceeds will go to S.T.E.P.S, Community Rescue Services and Mental Health charities. All welcome.

FEAST OF OUR LADY OF LOURDES

Open invitation for Prayer Intercession for the Sick on Tuesday 11 February (10.30am -8.00pm) at Thornhill House, Culmore Road, Derry. Exposition, Rosary and led prayers at 11.30 am and 1.30 pm, 3.30 pm, 5.30 pm and 7.30 pm.

CATHOLIC YOUTH MINISTRY

Catholic Youth Ministry Ireland (CYMI) invites young adults aged 18+ to join them for a faith event at Knock Shrine on Saturday 7 March. This event will involve workshops, fellowship, worship and various speakers. It is hoped to provide transport for those who would like to attend, from the diocese. CYMI is a national network that, amongst its work, shares responsibility for nourishing the faith of youth and young adults. LOURDES DIOCESAN PILGRIMAGE

Derry Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes, led by Bishop Donal McKeown, Thursday 2 July to Tuesday 7 July 2020, cost £679. This includes full board accomodation and transfers in Lourdes. The Pilgrimage Office in Diocesan Pastoral Centre, 164 Bishop Street, Derry, BT48 6UJ, will be open for enquiries and bookings each Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from 11.00 am to 1.00 pm. LENTEN RETREAT DAYS
