FEAST OF THE WEEK

Monday 6: The Epiphany of the Lord.

The Epiphany is the manifestation of Jesus as Messiah of Israel, Son of God and Saviour of the world. This feast celebrates the adoration of Jesus by the magi, together with his Baptism in the Jordan and the wedding feast at Cana

This is a holyday of obligation.

There will be no Eucharistic Adoration in Holy Rosary Church on Monday January 6. Adoration will resume in Holy Rosary on Monday 13 January.

PADRE PIO MASS

Monthly Mass in honour of Saint Pio of Pietrelcina will be celebrated on Monday 13 January in Holy Rosary Church at 7.30 pm.

PARISH ANNIVERSARY MASS

The Friday 7.30 pm Mass in St Columba’s Church Straw is offered as an anniversary Mass for deceased parishioners. If you wish to have your loved one prayed for at this Mass you MUST give their name to the Parish Office by Thursday of the relevant week. These names will also be read out at the 10.00 am Mass on Friday mornings (exception when this 10.00 am Mass is cancelled)

CHRISTMAS SELFIES

Make a visit to the Christmas Crib in any of the churches in the parish and send your best 'family selfie' please to ballinascreenparish@gmail.com

This would be a wonderful way to make the crib and the Holy Family a part of our own Christmas celebration.

All 'selfies' will be available to view on the parish web site.

DO THIS IN MEMORY OF ME

Do This In Memory Mass will be celebrated in Holy Rosary Church on Saturday 25 January at 6.00 pm.

The theme of this Mass will be Baptism and a photo will be requested via the schools in advance of this Mass.

The children preparing for First Holy Communion are asked to please remember to bring their blessed candle to this Mass and when they arrive should bring it to the front of the Church for it to be lit during this Mass. Candles will be returned after the Mass.

FIRST HOLY COMMUNION

Celebration of First Holy Communion in Ballinascreen in 2020 will be on:

Saturday May 2 for Gaelscoil Na Speirini at 11.00 am in St Columba’s Church Straw and St Marys P. S. Draperstown at 11.00 am in Holy Rosary Church, Draperstown.

Saturday May 16 for St Columba’s P.S. Straw at 11.00 am in St Columba’s Church, Straw, and St Eoghan’s P. S. Moneyneena at

11.00 am in St Eugene’s Church, Moneyneena.

CONFIRMATION 2020

Confirmation will be celebrated in Ballinascreen Parish on Saturday April 25 in St Columba’s Church Straw at 11.00 am.

ST JOSEPH’S YOUNG PRIESTS’ SOCIETY

The Society acknowledges with sincere thanks a generous donation for the support and education of student priests at home and abroad. All benefactors share in the Masses and prayers of the society. DERRY DIOCESAN YOUTH PILGRIMAGE TO MEDJUGORJE

Pilgrimage for young people aged 16-18 to Medjugorje for 7 nights from 28 July-4 August. This will be a unique experience for young people and an opportunity to engage with peers from around the world in a faith context as part of the Medjugorje Youth Festival. CHILDREN IN CROSSFIRE

Thanks to all who have already taken an Advent Box this year. Boxes are still available in all Church porches.

Donations this year will help to provide life saving treatment for children in Ethiopia who are suffering from severe acute malnutrition. All donations will be collected in January.

MARRIAGE ENRICHMENT WEEKEND
