FEASTS OF THE WEEK

Monday 4: St Charles Borromeo, lived 1538-1584. Patron saint of catechists and seminarians.

Tuesday 5: St Martin de Porres. Lived 1579 – 1639. A Dominican lay brother who spent his nights in prayer and penance and his days in the monastery, caring for the sick and poor. He is renowned for his devotion to the Blessed Sacrament.

Wednesday 6: All The Saints of Ireland.

Saturday 9: Dedication of Lateran Basilica. This church is ‘Mother and Head of all the churches of the City and the World.’ It is the cathedral church of the Bishop of Rome and is dedicated to the Most Holy Saviour.

EUCHARISTIC ADORATION

Eucharistic Adoration in St Eugene’s Church Moneyneena on Monday November 4 will commence after the 10.00 am Mass and conclude at 7.25 pm. Mass at 7.30 pm.

PADRE PIO MASS

Monthly Mass in honour of St Pio of Pietrelcina will be celebrated on Monday November 4 at 7.30 pm in St Eugene’s Church, Moneyneena.

Rosary and novena prayers at 7.10 pm.

MASS FOR DECEASED PARISHIONERS

The Annual Parish Mass for the deceased parishioners will take place on Friday 15 November at 7.30 pm in St Columba’s Church, Straw. The names of all who have died in Ballinascreen or were buried in our parish since last year’s Annual Requiem Mass, will be read out at this Mass.

BOOKS OF REMEMBRANCE

During the month of November a Book of Remembrance will be in each of the churches for parishioners to enrol the names of their deceased loved ones.

The 11.00 am Mass today, Sunday 3 Novemeber in St Columba’s Church Straw will be offered for the deceased members of the Derry Diocesan Society.

Saturday May 16 for St Columba’s P.S. Straw at 11.00 am in St Columba’s Church, Straw, and St Eoghan’s P. S. Moneyneena at 11.00 am in St Eugene’s Church, Moneyneena.

PARISH ANNIVERSARY MASS

The Friday 7.30 pm Mass in St Columba’s Church Straw is offered as an anniversary Mass for deceased parishioners. If you wish to have your loved one prayed for at this Mass you MUST give their name to the Parish Office by Thursday of the relevant week. These names will also be read out at the 10.00 am Mass on Friday mornings (exception when this 10.00 am Mass is cancelled).

DERRY DIOCESE MISSION TEAM

If interested in being part of our Diocesan Mission Team to promote and foster mission awareness at home and overseas, please come to our meeting on Tuesday 5 November at 7.00 pm in Ardstraw House, 21A Buncrana Road Derry, next to St Columb's College. AA ~ PUBLIC MEETING

Do you or someone you know have a problem with alcohol? To mark 25 years of Plumbridge AA Group a Public Information Meeting will be held in Glenelly House Plumbridge on Monday 25 November at 8.00 pm. Speakers from AA, Al-Anon and a medical expert will attend. All welcome.

MATT TALBOT FREEDOM FROM DRUGS MASS

This Mass will be celebrated in St Eugene’s Cathedral on Monday 4 November at 7.30 pm and will be offered for those who are addicted to drugs and their families. We pray that through the intercession of Venerable Matt Talbot people will be freed from this addiction. Prayer cards will be available. SEWING CLASSES ~ MONEYNEENA

Sewing classes recommence in An Rath Dubh on Mondays 7.00 pm to 9.00 pm starting on November 4. New members welcome. To register or to find out more about the classes please message Michelle on 07902673685. Spaces may be limited, so will be given on a ‘first come’ basis.

DRAPERSTOWN LIBRARY

  • Free Rhythm and Rhyme sessions for babies and tots every Friday from 10.30 am to 11.00 am. New members welcome.

  • Lego Club from 5.00 pm - 6.30 pm on Tuesdays. Parents may seek permission on other days for children to play with the Lego. Young children must be supervised.

  • Many new children’s books in stock to browse and borrow. Free membership.

  • SAD (seasonal affective disorder) lamp available for use in mornings in library (approx 30 minute sessions). See library staff for more details.

SIXTOWNS COMMUNITY CENTRE

Old Time Dance Classes continue every Tuesday from 8.30 pm in Sixtowns Community Centre. All welcome.

GLÓR NA SPEIRÍNÍ

Parent and Toddlers’ Group meets every Wednesday and Friday 9.00 am -10.30 am in Naíscoil na Speiríní, Straw. Cost £2 per session. These sessions allow children to develop social skills at their own pace, building a child's emotional confidence, encouraging physical activity, supporting children's imagination and creativity and learning through role-play. All welcome.
