FORTY HOURS ADORATION

Last weekend’s Forty Hours Adoration was very well attended and the parish will surely benefit from the prayers offered by so many. Thanks to Margaret Kelly, Sacristan for her continual presence over both days, ensuring that St Eugene’s Church was a pleasant and prayerful space for us. Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament will next take place on Monday November 4 in St Eugene’s Church, Moneyneena.

MISSION SUNDAY

Next Sunday, October 20, will be Mission Sunday. The theme, chosen by Pope Francis, this year is also the theme for the Missionary Month of October: Baptised and Sent: The Church of Christ on Mission in the World.

Pope Francis reminds us that every baptised man and woman is a mission. As far as God’s love is concerned, no one is useless or insignificant. Each of us is a mission to the world, for each of us is the fruit of God’s love. God never takes back his gift of life. Mission Sunday also encourages prayers, cooperation and help for missions. The Holy Father invites all Catholics to contribute to Mission Sunday Collections. Your contributions will be used in various countries to build simple mission churches, to educate seminarians, religious novices, lay catechists and pastoral workers and for raising missionary awareness in children and in encouraging the missionary dimension of Christian faith. The Pope sends his heartfelt blessing to all those who, by virtue of their baptism, share in any way in the mission of the Church. The full text of the Pope’s message for Mission Sunday may be read on the Vatican website. The second collection at all Masses next weekend will be the Mission Sunday Collection.

DO THIS IN MEMORY OF ME

Many thanks to all parents, guardians and family members who attended our first DTIM Mass last Saturday. It was a very joyful celebration of Mass for the children in Primary 4 who look forward to receiving Jesus in Holy Communion next May. Our next DoThis In Memory Mass is in St Eugene’s Church Moneyneena on Saturday 23 November at 6.00 pm.

The best way to prepare a child for First Holy Communion is to bring them to Mass each weekend. As First Holy Communion date draws near, their excitement at being able to receive the Eucharist at long last for the first time is an experience they shouldn’t be denied.
