140th Anniversary DAY
Wednesday, 21 August : Special day of Celebration with Most Rev. Michael Neary, Archbishop of Tuam
Theme: The message of the Knock Apparition then and now.
On this 140th Anniversary of the Apparition at Knock, Archbishop Neary will be the main Celebrant at the ceremonies. The local people who witnessed the heavenly vision on a wet August evening in 1879 will be remembered in particular way.
12 noon ~ Seminar on 19th Century Mayo – Place, people and the Knock Apparition by Nollaig O Muraile and Tom Neary.
Unveiling of the new Knock Village Model will take place at the 12 noon seminar.
Blessing of the New Processional Statue of Our Lady of Knock carved in Italy by Stuflesser Ortesei will take place at the 3.00 pm Mass.
Meeting Heaven at Harvest Time – Witness Walk’ – celebration and commemoration of the Apparition witnesses takes place at 7.00 pm.
