ST PATRICK’S DAY 2019

Next Sunday 17 March is St Patrick’s Day.

Vigil Mass will be celebrated in Irish on Saturday 16 March at 7.30 pm in St Eugene’s Moneyneena.

All Masses on 16 and 17 March for St Patrick's Day will be at the usual Saturday Vigil and Sunday Mass times.

DEATH NOTICES

In the event of the death of a loved one in the parish and the funeral is to take place in the parish of Ballinascreen or Desertmartin

a member of the family must inform Fr Madden or Fr Downey or Fr McGirr as soon as it is convenient. This allows for the family to receive the best possible support that the parish can offer at the time of a death and to enable them to make the necessary arrangements.

TRÓCAIRE

We welcome to the parishes of Ballinascreen and Desertmartin this weekend representatives from Trócaire who will promote and explain this year’s Trócaire Lenten Campaign. Trócaire boxes are now available at the back of each of the churches.

VISITATION OF SICK AND HOUSEBOUND

Fr Downey will visit the sick in his care on Monday 11, Thursday 14 and Friday 15 March.

EUCHARISTIC ADORATION

Adoration in Holy Rosary Church on Monday 11 March, starts after 10.00 am Mass and ends at 7.25 pm. Mass 7.30 pm.

Straw Church reopens this weekend and we have been assured that the work will be completed by next Sunday.

The Friday 7.30 pm Mass is offered as an anniversary Mass for deceased parishioners. If you wish to have your loved one prayed for at this Mass you MUST give their name to the Parish Office by Thursday of the relevant week.

ST JOSEPH’S YOUNG PRIESTS’ SOCIETY

Meeting of the above society will be held in Holy Rosary Church on Monday March 11, immediately after the 7.30 pm Mass.

The Rosary, which will be recited at 7.10 pm will be offered for vocations. All welcome.

CONFIRMATION 2019

Monsignor Joseph Donnelly, P. Em, will confer the Sacrament of Confirmation in St Columba’s Church, Straw on Saturday March 23 at 12 noon. Monsignor Donnelly is a former Vicar- General of the Diocese of Derry and a native of Ballinascreen. We look forward to welcoming him home to his parish for this special occasion.

THE IRISH CATHOLIC

Following the special promotion of the Irish Catholic Newspaper earlier in the year, those

who wish to purchase the paper each week must give their names into the parish office or the sacristans this weekend. As of next week only a limited number will be available to those who have placed an order.

YOUTH ALPHA FOR LENT

Young people aged 16-18 years are invited to consider taking part in Youth Alpha this Lent. This film series is designed to help teenagers engage in some of life's most important questions and help them explore faith. The series begins on Wednesday 13 March in Maghera Pastoral Centre 7.00 pm - 8.30 pm and will run for six Wednesdays. This course can count towards the Pope John Paul II Award but is open to all young people aged 16-18.
