FEASTS OF THE WEEK

Monday 5: St Martin de Porres. Lived 1579 – 1639. A Dominican lay brother who spent his nights in prayer and penance and his days in the monastery, caring for the sick and poor. He is renowned for his devotion to the Blessed Sacrament.

Tuesday 6: All the Saints of Ireland.

Friday 9: Dedication of the Lateran Basilica. This church in Rome is ‘Mother and Head of all the churches of the City and the World’. It is the cathedral church of the Bishop of Rome and is dedicated to the Most Holy Saviour.

Saturday 10: St Leo the Great, pope and Doctor of the Church. He died in 461.

EUCHARISTIC ADORATION

Adoration in Holy Rosary Church on Monday 5 November following the 10.00 am Mass until 7.25 pm. Mass at 7.30 pm.

PADRE PIO MASS

Monthly Mass in honour of St Pio of Pietrelcina will be celebrated on Monday 5 November at 7.30 pm in Holy Rosary.

Rosary and novena prayers at 7.10 pm.

VISITATION OF SICK AND HOUSEBOUND

Fr Downey will visit the sick in his care on Monday 5, Thursday 8 and Friday 9 November.

ANNUAL MASSES FOR DECEASED PARISHIONERS

The Annual Parish Mass for the deceased parishioners will take place next Friday 9 November at 7.30 pm in St Columba’s Church, Straw. The names of all who have died in Ballinascreen or were buried or waked in our parish since last year’s Annual Requiem Mass, will be read out at this Mass. After all the names have been read out an adult member of each bereaved family will be invited to carry a lit candle to the altar. Each family should ensure that an adult member has been selected to represent them.

Other members of the congregation, who also had a bereavement in the past year, will then be invited to carry forward a lit candle in memory of their deceased loved ones.

All candles will be provided at the back of the church during this Mass.

· The Annual Mass for deceased parishioners of Desertmartin Parish will take place on Friday November 16 in St Patrick’s Church, Keenaught at 7.30 pm.

BOOKS OF REMEMBRANCE

During the month of November a Book of Remembrance will be in each of the churches for parishioners to enrol the names of their deceased loved ones.

First Holy Communion Preparation Masses will be celebrated in Holy Rosary Church at 12 noon on the following dates:

14 April 2019. On 23 June 2019 the Final Mass will be celebrated in St Columba’s Church, Straw at 11.00 am.

DIOCESAN MASS FOR DECEASED YOUNG PEOPLE

Annual Mass for Deceased Children and Young People will be celebrated by Bishop Donal McKeown in St Eugene’s

Cathedral, Derry on Sunday 11 November at 7.00 pm. The Diocese of Derry extends an invitation to all who are grieving the loss of a young relative or friend to come together in prayer and support.

ST JOSEPH’S YOUNG PRIESTS’ SOCIETY

The Society acknowledges a generous donation for the support and education of student priests at home and abroad. All benefactors share in the Masses and prayers of the society. Further donations gratefully accepted. Please continue to pray for vocations to the priesthood.
