Next Sunday, October 21, will be Mission Sunday and in his message for this year’s World Mission Sunday Pope Francis, invites young men and women who want to follow Christ, to seek, to discover and to persevere in their vocation. The theme of this year’s observance is, ‘Together with young people, let us bring the Gospel to all’ .Mission Sunday encourages prayers, cooperation and help for missions as well as reminds Christians about the fundamental missionary character of the Church and of every baptized person.
The Holy Father also invites all Catholics to contribute to Mission Sunday Collections. Your contributions will be used to build simple mission churches, to educate seminarians, religious novices, lay catechists and pastoral workers. Your gift may also be used for building health facilities for children and adults as well as for providing emergency aid in times of war or natural disaster or to assist missionaries in their efforts to care for refugees.
The second collection at all Masses next weekend will be the Mission Sunday Collection.
Eucharistic Adoration in Holy Rosary Church on Monday 15 October, following the 10.00 am Mass until 7.25 pm, concluding with Mass at 7.30 pm.
IRISH PILGRIMAGE TRUST (IPT)
Pilgrimage to Lourdes, Easter 2019. The IPT is currently accepting applications for this pilgrimage from young people (11 – 30 years) with a medical condition, physical disability, illness, learning disability, social or emotional need or applications for children under the age of 11, who must be accompanied by a parent or close relative. Classes have commenced again for this term but there are still a few spaces available. The classes are on Thursday evenings in Glór na Speiríní, Straw at 7:00pm to 8:30pm at a cost of only £30 this term. A new member of staff has been appointed by Libraries NI to assist people in this area in IT skills. Anyone wanting a 1-to-1 session or classes on how to use their Ipad, tablet, phone or other digital device, please contact the library to book a place. Classes hopefully will run from November until March.
ANNUAL HARVEST FESTIVAL
Rev Carmen Hayes, extends a warm welcome to the Annual Harvest Festival in St Anne’s Church, Sixtowns on Sunday 21st October at 3pm. This is one of only three occasions when the Church opens its doors and is a traditional harvest celebration when the church will be decorated with flowers and fruits of the season.
