FEASTS OF THE WEEK

Thursday 20: Saints Andrew Kim Taegon, Paul Chong Hasang and Companions. Andrew was the first Korean priest and Paul a catechist, who were martyred along with 101 others during the persecutions of the Church in Korea from 1839 -1867.

Friday 21: St Matthew, apostle and evangelist.

EUCHARISTIC ADORATION

Eucharistic Adoration in Holy Rosary Church on Monday September 10 will begin after 10.00 am Mass and continue until 7.25 pm. Mass at 7.30 pm.

PADRE PIO ANNIVERSARY MASS

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the death of St Pio of Pietrlecina and the centenary of his having received on his body the stigmata, Bishop McKeown, will be the chief celebrant at a special Mass in honour of St Pio on Sunday 23 September in Holy Rosary at 3.00 pm.

This Mass will be followed by a blessing with a relic of St Pio of Pietrlecina.

FATIMA 2018

Fr Downey will be on pilgrimage to Fatima this week. During his pilgrimage he will offer Mass and remember in prayer the intentions of all parishioners.

ST JOSEPH’S YOUNG PRIESTS’ SOCIETY

  • A meeting of the above society will be held in Holy Rosary Church on Monday 17 September following the 7.30 pm Mass.

  • The Rosary, which will be recited in the Holy Rosary Church at 7.10 pm on Monday, will be offered for vocations to the priesthood. All welcome.

PARISH ANNIVERSARY MASS

Friday Mass at 7.30 pm in St Columba’s Straw is offered as an anniversary Mass for deceased parishioners. If you wish to have your loved one prayed for at this Mass you MUST give their name to the Parish Office before Thursday of the relevant week.

POPE JOHN PAUL II AWARD PILGRIMAGE TO KNOCK

The second annual Pope John Paul II Award pilgrimage to Knock will be on Tuesday 25 September, for young people ages 16-18 who may be interested in participating in the Award or are currently doing it. Starts at 11.00 am and concludes with Mass at 3.00 pm. Main celebrant will be Bishop McKeown. Guest speakers: Sr Ethel Normoyle Little Company of Mary and Alan Kerins, Irish sportsman, humanitarian and social entrepreneur. Music by Elation Ministries.   • Sixtowns Cross Community Group would like to acknowledge with gratitude grant funding recently received from the Workspace Group. This grant has enabled them to purchase new bowls equipment.

Registration for the next term of classes will be in St. Colm's High School on Tuesday 18 September from 7.30 pm. Classes in tin whistle, fiddle, harp, banjo/mandolin and bodhrán will resume on Tuesday 25 September.
