FR McGIRR ~ SILVER JUBILEE

Fr Dermot McGirr is celebrating the Silver Jubilee of his Ordination to the Priesthood this week, He was ordained a priest on the 4 July 1999. On Saturday next  Fr Dermot will celebrate his 25 years as a priest with a special Mass of Thanksgiving in St Patrick's Church Keenaught at 7.00 pm. (Please note the earlier starting time.) Bishop Donal McKeown will preside at the Mass and everyone is welcome to attend. Refreshments in St Martins GAC Longfield Lane immediately after Mass.


DAUGHTERS OF CHARITY ~ MISSION APPEAL

We welcome Sister from the Daughters of Charity of St Vincent de Paul order to our parish this weekend to speak at all Masses about their work in Africa.

SUMMER DRAW 2024

The Annual Summer Draw is upon us and this year the need for us all to make a huge effort to get as many to take part cannot be exaggerated. The work in St Eugene's Church, Moneyneena is progressing well and we are hoping that the Summer Draw will be a great success. We rely on every parishioner to take tickets into their work place and to distribute them among family members who live outside the parish. 

The total prize fund is £8,000 and the Draw will be held each Saturday from 13 July until Saturday August 10.  Winners will be announced each Saturday at the 6.00 p.m. Vigil Mass in Holy Rosary Church.

Week 1: 1st Prize £1,000, 2nd Prize £200, 3rd Prize £100.

Week 2: 1st Prize £1,000, 2nd Prize £200, 3rd Prize £100.

Week 3: 1st Prize £1,000, 2nd Prize £200, 3rd Prize £100.

DIOCESE OF DERRY - THREE DAY PILGRIMAGE TO LOUGH DERG

Lough Derg is a sacred place apart to bring burdens and leave them behind, to seek healing for wounds and to offering of prayer. The Lough Derg Pilgrimage provides a breathing space in which people can calmly explore and reflect on where they find themselves in their lives at this moment in time.  The Diocesan Pilgrimage led by Bishop McKeown starts on Friday 26 and concludes on Sunday  28 July.  Bus will depart after 10. 00am Mass from St Eugene's Cathedral, on 26 July. Cost £80 including transport. ST JOSEPH’S YOUNG PRIESTS’ SOCIETY

The Society acknowledges with sincere thanks several donations for the support and education of student priests at home and abroad. All benefactors share in the Masses and prayers of the society. NATIONAL GRANDPARENTS PILGRIMAGE TO KNOCK

National Grandparents Pilgrimage to Knock will be on Sunday 28 July.  Led by Archbishop Luis Mariano Montemayor, Papal Nuncio to Ireland.  Theme: ‘Do Not Cast Me Off in My Old Age’ (Psalm 71:9). 

2.30 pm: Anointing of the Sick in the Basilica. 

3.00 pm: Pilgrimage Mass followed by Rosary Procession.  Those unable to join in person can take part online at www.knockshrine.ie/watch.

BRACKAGH QUARRY WIND FARM COMMUNITY FUND

The 2024 -2025 Community Fund is now open for applications. The Fund offers grants up to £2,000 to community and voluntary groups within a four-mile radius of the wind farm site.  Groups outside this area may also apply provided all or the majority of the recipients of their services are based within the four-mile radius.  For more information or to request an application pack call Workspace on 028 79628113. MACMILLAN CANCER WALK

For walkers of all abilities and those folk who just fancy a cup of tea’ 

Annual Walk on Saturday July 27, will start and finish at An Ráth Dubh. Registration open from 8.30 am.  Long walk (7 miles) starts at 9.00 am, short walk (3 miles) starts at 11.00am.  Lunch served from 12 noon. FR MICHAEL COLLINS INTERVIEW

Glasgowbury and Northern Ireland Screen will present, on Tuesday 2 July at 7.00 pm at Glasgowbury HQ, ‘An Interview With Fr Michael Collins’ alongside a screening of Fr Collins’s film, ‘Ballinascreen’, a beautiful and important record of life in the town in 1967. If you or your loved ones featured in the 1967 film or if you’d just love to watch it and meet  Fr Michael Collins, come along and for this special screening. Free admission. Notices for First Anniversary and Month's Mind Masses should be received before the Wednesday of the previous week so that they may be printed in the Bulletin the weekend before the Anniversary Mass

    • Band practice Thursdays at 7.30 pm, All members are asked to please make a special effort to attend band practice and check they have a complete uniform. New and past members welcome.
