SEASON OF CREATION
Pope Francis has designated September 1- October 4 as Season of Creation, During this time the Prayer of St Francis of Assisi will be recited each day at Mass and we invite families to do the same at home in the evening at meal time or before bedtime. We also invite parishioners to take to the outdoors and to capture on a phone or camera an image that celebrates the Season of Creation. Please send your image to email@example.com and we will create our own virtual response to this call to prayer and praise of God's beautiful creation of which we are a part and to which we belong.
Final date for submission of ‘creation images’ is WEDNESDAY 30 SEPTEMBER.
Many thanks to all who have already volunteered to assist as stewards in all our Churches at each Mass. More stewards, who are free to attend each week, not necessarily every morning, but who can commit to a particular morning are needed for Holy Rosary Church. If willing to volunteer please email Ballinascreen Parish Office or contact Fr Madden. Parish Office Email Address: firstname.lastname@example.org

A PRAYER FOR OUR EARTH FROM ‘LAUDATO SI’ ~ POPE FRANCIS All-powerful God, you are present in the whole universe and in the smallest of your creatures. You embrace with your tenderness all that exists. Pour out upon us the power of your love, that we may protect life and beauty. Fill us with peace, that we may live as brothers and sisters, harming no one. O God of the poor, help us to rescue the abandoned and forgotten of this earth, so precious in your eyes. Bring healing to our lives, that we may protect the world and not prey on it, that we may sow beauty, not pollution and destruction. Touch the hearts of those who look only for gain at the expense of the poor and the earth. Teach us to discover the worth of each thing, to be filled with awe and contemplation, to recognize that we are profoundly united with every creature as we journey towards your infinite light. We thank you for being with us each day. Encourage us, we pray, in our struggle for justice, love and peace. Amen.

PRAYER OF ST FRANCIS
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace:
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy.
O divine Master,
grant that I may not so much seekto be consoled
as to console,
to be understood as to understand,
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
PRAYERS FOR OUR PROTECTION
The Irish Catholic Bishops have asked for prayers for those affected by the Coronavirus. Placing all our trust in the Lord, and asking Our Lady to intercede for us, the bishops invite everyone to pray these prayers:
EXTRACT FROM SAINT PATRICK’S BREASTPLATE
Christ with me, Christ before me, Christ behind me, Christ in me, Christ beneath me, Christ above me, Christ on my right, Christ on my left, Christ when I lie down, Christ when I sit down, Christ when I arise, Christ in the heart of everyone who thinks of me, Christ in the mouth of everyone who speaks of me, Christ in every eye that sees me, Christ in every ear that hears me.
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help, or sought your intercession was left unaided. Inspired with this confidence, I fly to you,
O Virgin of virgins, my Mother. To you I come, before you I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in your mercy, hear and answer. Amen
