PARISH OCTOBER DEVOTIONS

Devotions in Holy Rosary Church today, Sunday October 25, at 5.00 pm. Parishioners welcome. Devotions will also be broadcast on our parish webcam.

MONTH OF THE ROSARY

October is the month of the Rosary and during this month we are invited to recite the Rosary as a family prayer in the home. Click HERE to view the Mysteries of the Rosary and how to pray it on the Ballinascreen Parish Website.

Also on the parish website home page is the recording of the priests of the parish reciting the Rosary.

NOVEMBER REMEMBERING OUR DEARLY DEPARTED

At the recent general meeting of the Irish bishops it was agreed that the beginning of the month of November should be marked with a short Service to dedicate the month of November as a month of Prayer and Remembrance for the Dead and for the Comfort of the Bereaved.

This Service is to take place on

Sunday 1 November at 3.00pm in cathedrals and churches throughout the country, and people will be invited to participate via webcam and other online media from their homes.

In Ballinascreen and Desertmartin parishes the services will be broadcast on the parish webcams simultaneously at 3.00 pm from Holy Rosary Church and St Mary’s Coolcalm Church. Due to the huge number of people who would usually attend these services, they will only be available on the webcams.

Monday 2 November is All Souls Day and a day when people visit family graves and churches. More details will be available next weekend as we hope to have all churches opened on this special day, except during Mass times in Holy Rosary and St Mary's Coolcalm, when Mass will be available only on the webcam due to the high numbers that cannot be accommodated at this time.

A short booklet for families has been created to highlight the month of November as a time to remember and pray for our dearly departed. It marks out the feast days, provides a family prayer service, instructions to prepare a sacred space in the home and some prayers for November.

We hope it may bring comfort, solace and the light of Christ to many people during the coming days and weeks.

The booklet can be downloaded here: LINK TO BOOKLET

FRIDAY MASSES - PARISH ANNIVERSARY AND MONTH'S MIND MASSES

If parishioners wish to have their loved one prayed for at these Anniversary Friday Masses, please email their name to Ballinascreen Parish Office by 12 noon on Thursday of the relevant week.

We ask that only members of a family, whose loved one is being prayed for, attend the Friday Anniversary Mass in Holy Rosary Church at 7.30 pm. This will ensure that there is sufficient space for those who are remembering a Month’s Mind, First Anniversary and other anniversaries.

PRAYERS FOR OUR PROTECTION

The Irish Catholic Bishops have asked for prayers for those affected by the Coronavirus. Placing all our trust in the Lord, and asking Our Lady to intercede for us, the bishops invite everyone to pray these prayers:

EXTRACT FROM SAINT PATRICK’S BREASTPLATE

Christ with me, Christ before me, Christ behind me, Christ in me, Christ beneath me, Christ above me, Christ on my right, Christ on my left, Christ when I lie down, Christ when I sit down, Christ when I arise, Christ in the heart of everyone who thinks of me, Christ in the mouth of everyone who speaks of me, Christ in every eye that sees me, Christ in every ear that hears me.

MEMORARE

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help, or sought your intercession was left unaided. Inspired with this confidence, I fly to you,

O Virgin of virgins, my Mother. To you I come, before you I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in your mercy, hear and answer. Amen
