EASTER TRIDUUM

Holy Thursday ~  17 April

10.00 am ~ Mass of Chrism, St Eugene’s Cathedral, Derry. During this Mass the holy Oils used for Baptism and Confirmation, Anointing of the Sick and Ordination will be consecrated (the holy chrism) and blessed. Also, the priests will renew their Ordination promises. It is the only Mass celebrated in the diocese on Holy Thursday morning.  Everyone is welcome to attend or to join it via the Cathedral webcam.

EASTER DAWN MASS

We will go this Easter Morning to greet the Risen Christ at this Dawn Mass, which will be celebrated in the open air, in Eagle’s Valley, outside Moneyneena on the Feeny Road.  Please follow the signs and the stewards who will guide you to designated parking areas.  Mass will commence at 5.30 am. All welcome.


ANNUAL HOLY WEEK CONFESSIONS

  • Service of Reconciliation on Monday 14 April in Holy Rosary Church at 7.30 pm and on Tuesday 15 April at 7.30 pm in St Patrick's Church Keenaught.

  • Confessions also after both ceremonies on Holy Thursday evening and following the afternoon ceremonies on Good Friday.

  • On Holy Saturday morning Confessions will be in St Mary’s Church Coolcalm and Holy Rosary Church at 11.00 am.

PARISH MISSION - ANNIVERSARY MASS NOTICE

As the Vincentian Fathers will conduct a Four Day Parish Mission from Thursday 29 May to Sunday 1 June will be NO Parish Anniversary Masses on Friday May 30 or Saturday May 31. Families are asked to choose the weekend before or after and let their Parish Office know in advance.


YOUTH MINISTRY - LENTEN REFLECTION

Derry Diocesan Youth Department, along with young people participating in the Pope John Paul II Award, invite you to a Lenten Reflection with music and prayer, in St Mary's Church, Maghera, on Monday 14 April at 7.00 pm.  All welcome.  This event will be broadcast live on the Maghera parish webcam.


ST COLM’S HIGH SCHOOL

Students will take up a church door collection this weekend, after all Masses, in aid of the Diocesan Youth Pilgrimages to Lourdes, Rome and Fatima in which they are participating later in the summer.

The Derry Diocesan Catechetical Centre, in partnership with St Mary’s University, Twickenham, offers the Masters in Catholic School Leadership. This post graduate degree is dedicated to the professional development and spiritual formation of Catholic school leaders. It is a great opportunity for those currently in leadership roles and those who aspire to, or have an interest in, leadership roles within the Catholic School system. SCOUTS EASTER BAKE SALE

The Scouts are holding their Annual Bake Sale and Fun Easter Activities in the Workspace Community Hub on Saturday 19 April from 10.00 am to 1.00 pm. Come along, buy some Easter treats, meet the Easter Bunny, enjoy making some crafts, face painting and more!


COFFEE MORNING

St Colm’s High School pupils are holding a Coffee Morning from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm in An Ráth Dubh, on Saturday 19 April, to raise money for their Lourdes Pilgrimage. All welcome to enjoy hot drinks and delicious baked goods!


SCAM AWARENESS EVENT

Ballinascreen Credit Union with the Consumer Council invite its members to a FREE information event in The Hub on Wednesday 23 April at 7.30 pm.  Learn how to spot common scams and get tips on how to protect your money and personal information from experts.  Food and refreshments served after.


DAY TRIP TO DERRY

As part of the BALGLEN project, Ballinascreen Community Forum have organised a free day trip to Derry on Wednesday 14 May from 9.15 am to 6.30 pm. In the morning visiting the Tower Museum and in the afternoon attending the Mayor's Social Tea Dance in Guildhall. All welcome. BABY MASSAGE CLASSES

New baby massage and reflexology classes will begin in Community Hub on Friday 2 May for four weeks. 


DERRY DIOCESAN YOUTH PILGRIMAGE TO FATIMA

Young people aged 16 + are invited to join a pilgrimage to Fatima for 4 nights from 14 July - 18 July.  This will be a unique experience for young people and an opportunity to engage with their peers from around the world in a faith context. Cost is £700 and there will be a budget plan to help with this. PARISH ANNIVERSARY AND MONTH’S MIND MASSES

If you wish to have a deceased loved one prayed for at any Anniversary Friday Mass, you MUST please email their name to Ballinascreen Parish Office by noon on Thursday of the relevant week. Notices for First Anniversary and Month's Mind Masses should be received before the Wednesday of the previous week so that, they may be printed in the Bulletin the weekend before the Anniversary Mass


KNOCKNAGIN HALL

  • Defibrillator training: Knocknagin Hall Committee has recently purchased a defibrillator, through the Workspace Community Fund, thanks to The Workspace Group.  A 1½ hour defibrillator training session has been arranged to help local residents learn how to use it in an emergency. The training will be in the Parochial Hall on Thursday 15 May at 7.30 pm. To book a place please phone 07887614094.

  • Irish language classes at 7.30 pm on Mondays. The committee appreciates funding from Magherafelt Credit Union.

  • Chair Exercises: NO classes until Tuesday 29 April at 10.00 am. 

  • Irish Dancing Lessons: Tuesdays at 6.00 pm. Extra class for new beginners at 5.30 pm. To register contact Nicola 07518207458.

  • Crochet classes: Tuesdays at 7.30 pm.

  • Céilí Dancing classes for all ages and abilities on Wednesdays at 8.00 pm.

  • Sarsfield’s Accordion Band
