BULLETIN NOTES
FEASTS OF THE WEEK
Monday 8: St Colman. Bishop.
Tuesday 9: St Columba, abbot and missionary.
Wednesday 10: St Ephrem, deacon and doctor of the Church.
Thursday 11: St Barnabas.
Saturday 13: St Anthony of Padua, priest and doctor of the Church.
FEAST OF THE BODY AND BLOOD OF CHRIST (CORPUS CHRISTI)
Sunday 14 June, the Feast of Corpus Christi, would be the day when the P4 pupils who had received their First Holy Communion would celebrate their final Do This In Memory Of Me Mass in St Columba’s Church Straw. As Bishop Donal said recently, please God the time will come soon when they can receive Jesus in the Blessed Eucharist for the first time.
There is however a sacrament the children received earlier this year in preparation for their First Holy Communion and that sacrament was the Sacrament of Reconciliation or First Confession.
We invite the First Communion classes in both parishes to join, via the webcam, with the rest of their parish community on Tuesday (June 9) for a special Service of Reconciliation from Holy Rosary Church at 7.30 pm.
In the absence of individual confession at these times, we all still need the grace of this beautiful sacrament.
HOLY ROSARY CHURCH
On Sunday Holy Rosary Church will open at 2.00 pm for private prayer and close at 5.00 pm. It will open Monday to Saturday from 11.00 am to 1.00 pm.
If more parishioners offer to supervise the church it may be possible to open the church for longer. If willing to volunteer, please email ballinascreenparish@gmail.com or contact Fr Madden on 028 79628376.

2020 SACRED HEART NOVENA
The Sacred Heart Novena will be from Thursday 11 June - Friday 19 June. Devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus is considered a symbol of "God's boundless and passionate love for humanity". Many have found comfort and solace praying the Novena, and this year we have particular reason as a community, a nation and a global people to find strength, patience and reassurance in God’s love for us.
The 2020 Novena is available to download for FREE from the Sacred Heart Messenger website.
Novena prayer
Lord Jesus, you have said, ‘Ask and you shall receive, seek and you shall find, knock and it shall be opened unto you’. I come to you in faith and trust, in love and hope. Let me know your closeness to me, and your care for me and all who are dear to me.
My intention for this Novena is dear to me, and I know that what is important to me is important to you. Hear my prayer (mention your intention);
grant what I ask, and may I always trust that in all that happens in life, you will be close to me as my friend, guide and saviour. And so, Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place all my trust in you.

PRAYERS FOR OUR PROTECTION
The Irish Catholic Bishops have asked for prayers for those affected by the Coronavirus. Placing all our trust in the Lord, and asking Our Lady to intercede for us, the bishops invite everyone to pray these prayers:
EXTRACT FROM SAINT PATRICK’S BREASTPLATE
Christ with me, Christ before me, Christ behind me, Christ in me, Christ beneath me, Christ above me, Christ on my right, Christ on my left, Christ when I lie down, Christ when I sit down, Christ when I arise, Christ in the heart of everyone who thinks of me, Christ in the mouth of everyone who speaks of me, Christ in every eye that sees me, Christ in every ear that hears me.
MEMORARE
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help, or sought your intercession was left unaided. Inspired with this confidence, I fly to you,
O Virgin of virgins, my Mother. To you I come, before you I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in your mercy, hear and answer. Amen.
