WORLD YOUTH DAY PANAMA 2019

To coincide with World Youth Day in Panama next weekend at which Pope Francis will attend and Bishop Donal McKeown will accompany an Irish Youth Delegation there will be a Celebratory Youth Mass and Blessing in Holy Rosary Church next Saturday 27 Jnauary at the 6.00 pm Vigil Mass. The celebration will celebrate the role and contribution young people make to the life of our parishes. All young people will be blessed at the Mass, and are invited to wear an emblem of any youth club / organisation / school of which they are a member.

CHURCH UNITY WEEK

Church Unity week began on Friday January 18. Please continue to pray for the unity of all Christians so that those who need to hear about Jesus will be convinced of the Love of His Father in heaven for them because We Are One.

EUCHARISTIC ADORATION

Eucharistic Adoration in Holy Rosary Church on Monday 21 January, will commence after 10.00 am Mass and conclude at 7.25pm. Mass at 7.30 pm.

  • As part of The Irish Catholic Evangelisation Initiative, the newspaper will be available for the next 3 weeks at a reduced price of £1.

  • Any parishioner who wishes to place a regular order for this weekly paper from February onwards should please contact the Parish Office, as soon as possible, with their details and payment. The paper will, from February onwards, be distributed through the Parish Office.

PARISH DRAW

Draw for January will be held on Monday January 28. All returns should be made please to the Parish Office before 12 noon on Friday January 25.

PARISH ANNIVERSARY MASS

The Friday Mass at 7.30 pm in St Columba’s Straw is offered as an anniversary Mass for deceased parishioners. If you wish to have your loved one prayed for at this Mass you MUST give their name to the Parish Office before Thursday of the relevant week.

THE NET

The Net is a Derry Diocesan monthly colourful newspaper which reports on various diocesan events, relevant news and personal faith stories. It is available to buy in Church porches cost £1.50.

ST JOSEPH’S YOUNG PRIESTS’ SOCIETY

The Society acknowledges with sincere thanks several generous donations for the support and education of student priests at home and abroad. All benefactors share in the Masses and prayers of the society. Further donations gratefully accepted. Please continue to pray for vocations to the priesthood for the church of tomorrow.

DERRY DIOCESAN LOURDES PILGRIMAGE

  • Pilgrimage from 4 – 9 July. We welcome all pilgrims, especially pilgrims in need of care. We welcome doctors, nurses and youth (aged 17 years+) to assist with those in need.   • Annual Lourdes Hospitalité Collection will take place on 9 / 10 February. Prayer Cards will be distributed. Your past generosity to the pilgrimage has made it possible for persons in need to benefit from the experience of Lourdes. Thank you once again in advance.

Adult Irish language classes resume again on Thursday 24 January from 7.00 pm-8.30 pm in Gaelscoil na Speiríní Straw. The course will last 10 weeks, cost £25. Everyone welcome.

  • Lapóglann- Toddle-Inn

Tagann an grúpa seo le chéíle gach maidin Chéadaoin agus gach Aoine ar 9.00 am go dtí 10.30 am san ionad Ghlór na Speiríní. Ní ach £2 le freastail ar seisiún amháin, fáilte roimh chách.

Mother and Toddlers’ Group meet on Wednesday and Friday mornings from 9.00 am to 10.30 am in Gaelscoil na Speiríní, Straw. This is a great opportunity for parent / guardian to socialise and bond in a child friendly environment. Cost £2 per session. Everyone welcome.

DANCE CLASSES

Old Time Dance Classes start Tuesday 29 January at 8.30 pm in Sixtowns Cross Community Centre. Everyone welcome.

CAREFULLY YOURS

‘Carefully Yours’ Project, based in the Mid Ulster Volunteer Centre Magherafelt, offers support and a range of activities to all over 55’s. Activities include; exercise classes, luncheon club, computer courses, yoga, health promotion sessions and much more. New schedule of activities available. PRAXIS CARE

Volunteers are needed to visit people who feel lonely or isolated due to their mental ill health. If willing to give commitment of approximately 2 hours per week please email info.magherafelt@praxiscare.org.uk or phone 79634488 during office hours.
