ST EUGENE’S MONEYNEENA

After many years of talk work on the provision of toilets at St Eugene’s Church, Moneyneena is due to begin shortly. As was mentioned a few months ago, when the Parish Finance Council took the decision to proceed with the toilets, other smaller works at St Eugene’s Church were looked at and it was decided that the plaster work above the sanctuary should be attended to and the interior of the church painted. The church was last painted in 2002, its centenary year. We will also take this opportunity to raise the inside entrance porch, as it can be difficult when funerals are taking place. The carpet in the sanctuary also needs replacing and it was decided to lay tiles that would be a more permanent replacement.

For health and safety reasons and in order to let this minor works project proceed as quickly as possible, St Eugene’s Church will close tomorrow Monday March 12, until the work is completed.

Weekend Masses will take place in An Rath Dubh and we are very grateful to the committee who have generously offered their assistance.

  • While St Eugene’s Church is closed, for the next few weeks, all 10.00 am morning Masses will be celebrated in Holy Rosary.

LENTEN WALK

Following a request from Corrymeela Community, both Ballinascreen Catholic and Church of Ireland Parishes will host a Lenten Walk next Thursday 15 March, commencing at 10.30 am with a short prayer service in the Church of Ireland Draperstown, followed by an 8 km walk starting and finishing at Lough Fea. Transport to Lough Fea is not provided. Following the walk a short prayer service will be held in St Columba’s Church, Straw. Refreshments will be served afterwards in An Rath Dubh, Moneyneena. For catering purposes it is important to let the Parish Office know, as soon as possible, of your intention to do the walk.

EUCHARISTIC ADORATION

Eucharistic Adoration in Holy Rosary on Monday March 12 following the 10.00 am Mass. It will conclude with 7.30 pm Mass.

PARISH WEEKLY ENVELOPES

The new boxes of Envelopes are now being delivered. If you do not have envelopes and wish to receive a box or if you have changed your address during the past year please advise the Parsh Office. We ask that all wage earners contribute to the parish by having their own personal box of envelopes.

We are also asking you to consider joining our Giift-Aid Scheme, if you have not already done so. If you pay tax, even a small amount, because we are a registered charity we are entitled to claim back from the Government the tax on the amount you pay to the Church. We know that at the mention of tax, most people have a fear that this will draw attention to their accounts; we can ensure you that this has not been the case where the scheme has been in operation. We therefore, ask you to consider completing the enclosed card in your box of envelopes and place it in with your first envelope. It is vital that you use the envelope method or direct debit to pay the Church so we may claim Gift-Aid on your contributions, which have to be recorded. Many thanks for your support. If you have already signed up for Gift Aid there is no need to sign up again. We wish to thank all those who are delivering the new boxes of envelopes.

We greatly appreciate your help.

Official Family Prayer for World Meeting of Families

God, our Father, we are brothers and sisters in Jesus your Son,

One family, in the Spirit of your love.

Bless us with the joy of love.

Make us patient and kind, gentle and generous, welcoming to those in need.

Help us to live your forgiveness and peace.

Protect all families with your loving care,

Especially those for whom we now pray:

Pause to remember family members and others

Increase our faith, strengthen our hope,

Keep us safe in your love,

Make us always grateful for the gift of life that we share. This we ask, through Christ our Lord. Amen
