Mass arrangements for The Feast of The Assumption and Sunday 16 August will be as follows:
FEAST OF ASSUMPTION
Saturday 15 August is the Feast of the Assumption of Our Lady. There is no obligation to attend Mass for the feast this year.
The Vigil Mass will be celebrated in Holy Rosary on Friday August 14 at 7.30 pm and only those whose family anniversaries are being remembered that evening should attend.
PLEASE NOTE: On Saturday morning, 15 August, Mass will be available by webcam only and will be celebrated at 10.00 am in St Mary’s Coolcalm and at 12 noon in Holy Rosary Draperstown.
The Saturday evening Vigil Masses on August 15 will continue as usual and attendance at these will follow the new two weekly schedule which will be published on Monday, August 10.
We thank everyone for their good will and cautious approach to Mass attendance. It has allowed the stewards to gain confidence in guiding parishioners to designated seating areas.

Monday 10: St Lawrence, died 258,. Patron Saint of the poor and of cooks.
Tuesday 11: St Clare, virgin, born at Assisi in 1193, died 1253. She followed St Francis in his life of poverty and was founder of the Poor Clares. She led an austere life, abounding in works of piety and charity.
Friday 14: St Maximillian Kolbe, priest and martyr. Born 1894, died 1941. A Conveentual Franciscan who worked in the apostolate of the press in Poland and Japan and died in Auschwitz.

Holy Rosary Church will be open for private prayer this week ONLY on Tuesday and Thursday from 11.00 am – 1.00 pm.
FRIDAY MASSES - PARISH ANNIVERSARY MASSES
Parish Anniversary Masses will be held every Friday at 10.00 am in St Mary's Coolcalm and at 7.30 pm in Holy Rosary Church.
If parishioners wish to have their loved one prayed for at these Anniversary Friday Masses, please email their name to Ballinascreen Parish Office by 12 noon on Thursday of the relevant week.

VIGIL AND SUNDAY MASSES
Saturday Vigils and Sunday Masses for different areas of the parish will be held as follows
5.00 pm Vigil Mass in St Eugene’s Church, Moneyneena.
6.15 pm Vigil Mass in Holy Rosary Church
9.00 am Sunday Mass in St Columba’s Church, Straw
11.00 am Sunday Mass in St Patrick’s Sixtowns
12 noon Sunday Mass in Holy Rosary Church.
Church doors will open 30 minutes before Mass starts.
Because of the new guidelines re social distancing the number of parishioners that may attend each Mass is limited.
Therefore each Mass, over a four week cycle, will be for certain areas of the parish. However families residing in the same household may sit together.
The current four week cycle (below) finishes this weekend and will be replaced by a new 2 week cycle starting next weekend (15 and 16 August).
Full details of the new two week cycle will be displayed tomorrow (Monday) on all Church doors, on the Parish Office window and on the parish website and Facebook page.
Parish Mass will still be available via the web-cam from Holy Rosary Church on Saturday at 6.15 pm and Sunday at 12.00 noon.
It is very important to note that the Sunday Obligation to attend Mass continues to be suspended.

JOHN HUME RIP
Bishop Donal McKeown described John Hume, who died on August 3 aged 83, as “one of the greatest peacemakers and champions of social justice of our time” and said that he dedicated his life to the welfare of this community.
In 2012, John was conferred with a papal knighthood from Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI in recognition of his commitment to peace, reconciliation, non-violence and social justice.
His commitment to peace-building was recognized in 1998 when he received the Nobel Peace Prize. He also received the Gandhi Peace Prize and the Martin Luther King Award, making him the only person ever to win all three major peace awards.
Archbishop Eamon Martin, Archbishop of Armagh, and Primate of All Ireland reflected that the sadness in Derry City last Tuesday rippled out to every corner of Ireland and all around the world where the mere mention of the name of John Hume evokes admiration, respect and thanksgiving for a life dedicated to peace and social justice. Archbishop Martin also recorded that John’s vocation was to serve God and his community as a layman, and he totally devoted his energies to that vocation – to relieving poverty, challenging injustice and providing decent living conditions for all. John, he said, was a man whose convictions were rooted in a deep faith, in prayer and practical Christianity. He put Catholic Social Teaching into practise – sometimes at great personal cost and risk – working ceaselessly for a process of reconciliation through which the dignity of every human person is recognised and upheld.
