BULLETIN NOTES

EASTER 2020

The priests of the parish wish everyone the Blessings of Easter. This year we celebrate the victory of Christ over death as the world struggles with the COVID 19 pandemic. Current events remind us how much hope is a dimension of our faith. May this hope that the resurrection of Jesus offers us bring much needed hope and light to each of us and into our world.

Christ is risen,

He is truly risen!

HOLY HOUR

Monday at 3.00 pm in Holy Rosary please join via parish webcam.

DEATHS

We extend our prayerful sympathy to the family and relatives of:

Tony McCormack, Fivemile Straight,

Con Larkin, England,

Nellie Carlin, Canada.

MONTH’S MIND MASSES

Eamon McGovern, Bancran, on Saturday 11 April,

Josie Cushenan, Glenelly Villas, on Friday April 17.

ANNIVERSARIES

Clare O'Kane, Gary Manning, Kieran McCullagh, Nuala O'Kane, Joseph Conway, Mary Kelly, Susan Kennedy.

COMMUNITY VIGILANCE

During the week an attempted burglary on the home of a parishioner was thwarted when, mercifully, the intruder was distracted by a passer-by who noticed something amiss.

The police were called but the intruder made off on a motor bike.

Please make sure your home and property are secure at all times and that those live on their own are well protected. In the midst of this pandemic, there are those who would exploit the vulnerable.

When you are out for your daily walk, keep an eye out for those who live alone and if you see anything amiss, please call the police and report it.

LOURDES DIOCESAN PILGRIMAGE 2020

After consultation with the tour operator, and having reviewed the present situation in Lourdes and the continuing closure of the Sanctuary, the Diocesan Pilgrimage administration team has decided that the Derry Pilgrimage scheduled to travel at the start of July will not take place. Please God, it can be rescheduled for summer 2021. Any deposits or payments made already will either be refunded or may be used as deposits in whole or part for 2021 in accordance with the wishes of the individual pilgrims. This may take some time as the Pilgrimage Office is currently closed in accordance with Diocesan directives.

All youth deposits will be refunded, as rescheduling does not appear to be an option for the youth scheduled to travel at the moment.

We very much regret the necessity of this very unusual step but believe we have reached a stage where no other course of action is possible.

The Diocesan Pilgrimage administration team hope that all their past and aspiring pilgrims, their families and friends stay safe and well at this difficult time and entrust all to the care of Our Lady of Lourdes,

POPE FRANCIS @PONTIFEX

From the open heart of the Crucified one, God’s love reaches each one of us. Let us allow His gaze to rest on us. We will understand that we are not alone, but loved, for the Lord does not abandon us and He never, ever forgets us.

PRAYERS FOR OUR PROTECTION

The Irish Catholic Bishops have asked for prayers for those affected by the Coronavirus. Placing all our trust in the Lord, and asking Our Lady to intercede for us, the bishops invite everyone to pray these prayers:

EXTRACT FROM SAINT PATRICK’S BREASTPLATE

Christ with me, Christ before me, Christ behind me, Christ in me, Christ beneath me, Christ above me, Christ on my right, Christ on my left, Christ when I lie down, Christ when I sit down, Christ when I arise, Christ in the heart of everyone who thinks of me, Christ in the mouth of everyone who speaks of me, Christ in every eye that sees me, Christ in every ear that hears me.

MEMORARE

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help, or sought your intercession was left unaided. Inspired with this confidence, I fly to you,

O Virgin of virgins, my Mother. To you I come, before you I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in your mercy, hear and answer. Amen.
