MASS FOR DECEASED PARISHIONERS

The Annual Parish Mass for the deceased parishioners will take place on Friday 15 November at 7.30 pm in St Columba’s Church, Straw. The names of all who have died in Ballinascreen or were buried or waked in our parish since last year’s Annual Requiem Mass, will be read out at this Mass.

SPECIAL BOOKS OF REMEMBRANCE

A Book of Remembrance will be placed in each of the churches in the parish for parishioners to enrol the names of their deceased loved ones. These books will remain in place for the month of November.

The 11.00 am Mass on Sunday 3 Novemebr in St Columba’s Church Straw will be offered for the deceased members of the Derry Diocesan Society.

DO THIS IN MEMORY OF ME

Do This In Memory Mass will be next celebrated in St Eugene’s Church Moneyneena on Saturday 23 November at 6.00 pm. The best way to prepare a child for First Holy Communion is to bring them to Mass each weekend. As First Holy Communion date draws near, their excitement at being able to receive the Eucharist at long last for the first time is an experience they shouldn’t be denied.

FIRST HOLY COMMUNION 2020

Celebration of First Holy Communion in Ballinascreen Parish in 2020 will be on:

Saturday May 2 for Gaelscoil Na Speirini at 11.00 am in St Columba’s Church Straw and St Marys P. S. Draperstown at 11.00 am in Holy Rosary Church, Draperstown.

Saturday May 16 for St Columba’s P.S. Straw at 11.00 am in St Columba’s Church, Straw, and St Eoghan’s P. S. Moneyneena at 11.00 am in St Eugene’s Church, Moneyneena.

BALLINASCREEN PARISH DRAW

Draw for October will be held on TUESDAY October 29. All returns should be made to the Parish Office please before 3.00 pm on Monday October 28.

PARISH BAPTISMS

Baptisms will take place at 3.00 pm in St Columba’s Church Straw on Sunday 24 November and Sunday 22 December.

Baptisms will take place at 3.00 pm in St Eugene’s Church Moneyneena on Saturday 9 November and Saturday 7 December.

A baptism card is to be completed when booking a baptism. Please contact the Parish Office to book.

PARISH ANNIVERSARY MASS

The Friday 7.30 pm Mass in St Columba’s Church Straw is offered as an anniversary Mass for deceased parishioners. If you wish to have your loved one prayed for at this Mass you MUST give their name to the Parish Office by Thursday of the relevant week. These names will also be read out at the 10.00 am Mass on Friday mornings (exception when this 10.00 am Mass is cancelled).

DERRY DIOCESAN PIONEER MASS

Annual Mass will be celebrated by Bishop McKeown today, Sunday 27 October at 3.00 pm in St Mary’s Church, Ballerin, Co Derry. Refreshments served after in the nearby Errigal Hall. Everyone welcome.

ST MARIA GORETTI PRAYER MOVEMENT

Holy Hour Tuesday 22 October at 8.15 pm in Immaculate Conception Church, Trench Road, Derry. Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and Prayer for healing for victims of abuse and reparation for the Church. Veneration of the relic of St Maria Goretti afterwards. Everyone welcome.

COFFEE MORNING ~ THANKS

The staff and pupils of St Colm’s wish to express their heartfelt gratitude to the community for their generous support for the recent Coffee Morning. A special word of thanks to all their sponsors. £2100 was raised for S.T.E.P.S. and Macmillan.

SEWING CLASSES ~ MONEYNEENA

MACMILLAN CANCER CARE

Macmillan Cancer Care are running low on syringe driver bags. If you can spare an hour to help this great cause please come to a sewing night in An Rath Dubh on Tuesday 29 October between 6.30 pm and 9.30 pm. Please bring your sewing machine, cutting board, cutters and any spare fabric you may have. Limited sewing machines will be available.
