DERRY DIOCESAN PILGRIMAGE TO KNOCK

Fr Madden is organising a bus to take pilgrims from Ballinascreen and Desertmartin to Knock on Saturday 28 September leaving Holy Rosary Church at 7.30 am. There will a tea/coffee break stop on the way to Knock and on the return home for an evening meal. Please contact Maire at Ballinascreen Parish Office by phone only or in person 79628248. Cost is £35, this includes breakfast and evening meal. This Diocesan Pilgrimage will be led by Bishop Donal McKeown. Stations of the Cross at 2.00 pm, Mass at 3.00 pm, with Sacrament of the Sick.

The Friday 7.30 pm Mass in St Columba’s Straw is offered as an anniversary Mass for deceased parishioners. If you wish to have your loved one prayed for at this Mass you MUST give their name to the Parish Office by Thursday of the relevant week.

DIOCESAN RELIGIOUS EDUCATION CONFERENCE

‘The Path I Walk Christ Walks It’

The Diocese of Derry is hosting its inaugural Education Conference for Schools in Saint Columb’s College, Derry on Wednesday 28 and Thursday 29 August. As part of this event, there will be two public sessions, beginning each evening at 7.00 pm. On 28 August, Fr Adrian Porter, SJ, Director of the Jesuit Institute of Education, London, will speak about, ‘Trusting God-Promoting Positive Mental Health in a Catholic School’. On 29 August, Professor Francis Campbell, Vice Chancellor of St Mary’s University Twickenham, will address the topic,

‘Why Choose a Catholic School?’

Macmillan Cancer Care are running low on syringe driver bags. If you can spare an hour to help this great cause please come to a sewing night in An Rath Dubh on Tuesday 27 August between 6.30 pm and 9.30 pm. Please bring your sewing machine, cutting board, cutters and any spare fabric you may have. Limited sewing machines will be available. If you can’t sew, you are still welcome as cutters will be needed. If unable to attend, but able to donate fabric, thread or velcro these may be left in Devlin’s Shop and all contributions will be greatly appreciated.
