FEASTS OF THE WEEK

Monday 20: St Bernadine of Siena.Born 1380. He travelled through Italy promoting devotion to the Holy Name and to St Joseph. He died in 1444.

Tuesday 21: Saints Christopher Magallánes and Companions. These twenty-five priests and laymen were executed in 1927 in Mexico.

Wednesday 22: St Rita of Cascia. 1386 – 1457. At her canonization ceremony she was bestowed the title of Patroness of Impossible Causes.

Friday 24: World Day of Prayer for the Church in China.

EUCHARISTIC ADORATION

Eucharistic Adoration in Holy Rosary Church on Monday May 20 will start immediately after the 10.00 am Mass and conclude at 7.25 pm.

CEMETERY SUNDAY 2019

Annual Blessing of the Graves will take place in Ballinascreen Parish on Sunday 16 June.

BALLINASCREEN PARISH DRAW

Over the past two weekends the Parish Bulletin has highlighted the need for as many parishioners in Ballinascreen to support the upkeep of the parish by joining the Parish Draw which begins on Tuesday May 28. Apart from the Gift Aid Scheme which enables the parish reclaim 25p for every £1 donated to the parish in Sunday Envelopes, the Parish Draw is our main fund-raising event.

This Draw makes a very valuable contribution to the parish funds, as well as providing £2000 monthly in prizes to you, the contributors.

Annual subscription is £60 or £5 per month. You may join the Draw through your promoter of through the Parish Office. If you do not know who your nearest Promoter is please contact the Parish Office at 79628248 and Maire will let you know. We are very grateful to our many parishioners and friends who already support this Draw and we trust this will continue.

We also sincerely thank all the Promoters who willingly give so much of their time to collecting each month. Their work is greatly appreciated.

If you are willing to become a Promoter in your area or work place please contact the Parish Office.

SVP ANNUAL OUTING

Annual Outing on Tuesday 11 June to Donegal. Bus will leave from Holy Rosary Church at 9.00 am sharp. Lunch in Beech Hill, stopping in Foyleside before continuing on to Donegal. Cost £15 covers bus fare and lunch. Name, donation and menu choice for lunch to be given please to Julia McGuigan before Tuesday 4 June.

PARISH ANNIVERSARY MASS

The Friday 7.30 pm Mass in St Columba’s Straw is offered as an anniversary Mass for deceased parishioners. If you wish to have your loved one prayed for at this Mass you MUST give their name to the Parish Office by Thursday of the relevant week.

DERRY DIOCESAN PILGRIMAGE TO LOUGH DERG

The annual pilgrimage to Lough Derg will take place from Friday 21 June - Sunday 23 June. Spiritual Director: Bishop Donal McKeown. Please consider participating in the diocesan pilgrimage this year. A bus is being arranged from Derry for those who wish to avail of it. £80 per person (including bus) or £65 for students (ages 16 – 18) including bus.

TEACHING OPPORTUNITY IN SCOTLAND

The University of Glasgow, in partnership with the Scottish Government, have a teaching opportunity aimed at Primary teachers who have a Catholic Education Teaching Certificate or Secondary teachers in STEM-related areas. Successful applicants will be offered a two-year teaching position in Scotland and at the same time the opportunity to complete an MEd in Inclusive Practice, Policy and Enquiry in University of Glasgow. The cost of the Masters will be covered for successful applicants. MASTERS IN CATHOLIC SCHOOL LEADERSHIP

Derry Diocesan Catechetical Centre, in partnership with Saint Mary’s University, Twickenham, offers the Masters in Catholic School Leadership. This post graduate degree is dedicated to the professional development and spiritual formation of Catholic school leaders. It is a great opportunity for those currently in leadership roles and those who aspire to, or have an interest in, leadership roles within the Catholic School system.
