SUMMER MASS TIMES

As it gets increasingly difficult to find priests to cover Masses when one of the priests of the parish is away, the following changes are being made to Mass times in Ballinascreen and Desertmartin Parishes. Begining this weekend, Saturday 30 June, there will be no Saturday Vigil Mass in St Eugene’s Church Moneyneena at 7.30 pm.

In Keenaught the Saturday Vigil Mass will be at the new time of 7.30 pm. No 11.30 am Mass on Sunday mornings in Keenaught. This new arrangement will be reviewed at the end of the summer months.

Padre Pio Mass

  • Monthly Mass in honour of St Pio of Pietreclina will be celebrated on Monday July 2 in Holy Rosary Church at 7.30 pm. Rosary and novena prayers commence at 7.10 pm.

  • Annual subscriptions for the Voice of Padre Pio magazine are now due, can be paid at July Mass. Enclose £13 in a sealed envelope please with your name and full address.

VISITATION OF SICK AND HOUSEBOUND

Fr Downey will attend the sick in his care on Monday 9, Thursday 12 and Friday 13 July .

Tuesday August 21: County Derry Deanery Family Event to be held in Dean McGlinchey Park in the evening to celebrate the opening of the World Meeting of Families on Wednesday August 22, culminating in the visit to Ireland of the Holiness Pope Francis.

Sunday September 23: To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the death of St Pio of Pietrlecina (Padre Pio ) and the centenary of his having received on his body the stigmata (the wounds of Jesus on the cross ) Bishop Donal McKeown, Bishop of Derry will be the chief celebrant at Mass in Holy Rosary Church at 3.00 pm.

LOURDES 2018

Fr Madden is accompanying Bishop Donal McKeown on the diocesan pilgrimage to Lourdes which begins today, Sunday July 1. He will offer Mass in Lourdes for the intentions of all parishioners.

PARISH ANNIVERSARY MASS

The 7.30 pm Friday Mass in St Columba’s Straw is offered each week as an anniversary Mass for deceased parishioners. If you wish to have your loved one prayed for at this Mass you MUST give their name to the Parish Office before Thursday of the relevant week.

  • Anointing of the Sick daily at 12 noon and 3.00 pm. Sunday 2.30 pm.

  • Confessions daily in Chapel of Reconciliation 11.00 am – 5.00 pm.

  • Stations of the Cross and Rosary Procession 2.00 pm (Mon – Sat).

  • Guided Prayer Sessions in the Prayer Guidance Centre. Monday - Friday: 12 noon; 4.15 pm and 8.15 pm.

Saturday and Sunday: 12 noon, 5.00 pm and 8.15 pm.

  • Counselling Centre Drop-In Service. No appointment necessary. Available Thursdays: 10.00 am - 5.00 pm, Fridays: 2.00 pm - 5.00 pm, Saturdays and Sundays: 11.00 am – 5.00 pm. This service is available to any person aged over 18. There is no set fee for a session at the drop-in listening service.

AN RATH DUBH MONEYNEENA

Sixtowns Cross Community Group

  • Dance Night in Sixtowns Hall on Friday 6 July. Music by Still Water. Doors open 9.30 pm. Admission £6.

  • Community Fun Day on Sunday 8 July from 3.00 pm -6.00 pm. Live Music by Fizzer, Puppet and Magic Show, bouncy castles, face painting and more. All welcome. Admission £3 including all activities. Hot food and refreshments served. Thanks to Mid Ulster District Council for supporting this event.

ST MARY'S P.S., DRAPERSTOWN

We would like to extend a huge thanks to our whole school community for the tremendous hard work and support during the year. We are delighted to be celebrating a myriad of awards and acknowledgments including:

County Derry Indoor Camogie Champions, Ulster Camogie Champions, Mid-Ulster Large School Track and Field Champions, Girls Overall Track and Field Champions, Best Kept School in the North Eastern Area, Best Kept School in Northern Ireland, Shortlisted for Marketing Guru Award in Dublin for our Junior Entrepreneur Project and Sentinus Young Innovators STEM Challenge Finalists in Belfast.

Our choir and musicians were invited to provide the music for Catholic Schools’ Week, Diocesan Mass in St. Eugene’ Cathedral, Derry and we organised the largest exhibition of children’s Iconography ever held in Ireland in conjunction with the Irish Association of Iconographers. What an exceptional year! Congratulations everyone.

SLIEVE GALLION ACTIVE RETIREMENT ASSOCIATION

Carol McKee from Age Well Project will talk on Services for Older People in the Mid-Ulster Area on Monday 2 July at 7.30 pm in St Mary.'s Hall, Desertmartin. Non-members and members welcome. Monthly meeting for members will follow.

MAGHERA LIBRARY

Extended opening hours every evening after normal opening hours which are 10.00 am – 5.00 pm daily. Extended hours are Monday to Friday 5.00 pm – 10.00 pm and Saturday 4.00 pm – 8.00 pm.

BC FITNESS DRAPERSTOWN

  • Ballinascreen Summer Camp 2018 commences Monday 2 July until Thursday 5 July 10.00 am -2.00 pm daily with a FREE Family Fun Night open to everyone on Friday 6 July from 6.00 pm, with BBQ followed by music in the Club. All children registered for the Summer Camp should arrive at 10.00 am each day and bring their own hurl/helmet (if they have one), bring a healthy packed lunch (no nuts), wear sun cream and bring water. All children must be collected at 2.00 pm. NO registrations will be accepted on any day of Summer Camp.
