FEASTS OF THE WEEK
Tuesday 4: St John Vianney, 1786 – 1859. He had to contend with poverty, milarity service and his own intellecutal shortcomings in order to become a priest. In 1817, he was sent to care for the people of Ars, a small obscure French village. The marvellous gift of the unlearned priest for seeing into the depths of the soul the world to Ars. From 1830 on, the curé averaged twelve to sixteen hours a day in the confessional.
Patron of priests.
Wednesday 5: The Dedication of the Basilica of St Mary Major
The basilica was built by Pope Sixtus lll after the Council of Ephesus (431). lt is the first church in the West named in honour of the Mother of God.
Thursday 6: The Transfuguration of the Lord. The Cross requires the exodus of Jesus, his death, Resurrection and glorification. The disciples have to realise that he must depart, just as they are now prepared for his going up to Jerusalem to die.
Friday 7: Saints Sixtus II, pope, and Companions, martyrs
Saturday 8: St Dominic, priest, 117O - 1221, a Spaniard who founded the Order of Preachers (Dominicans)
We congratulate and pray God’s blessing on the children from our parish who received the Sacrament of Confirmation during the month of July. Sincere thanks to the teachers, parents and their sponsors who supported the children with their preparations and also on their Confirmation day.
We welcome into God’s family through the Sacrament of Baptism:
Calen Lucas Barrett, River Mews Moneymore,
Laney Briege McLaughlin, Woodland Grove,
Louie Ethan Moran, Rannakeeran.
We extend our prayerful sympathy to the family and relatives of:

#Friendship is one of life’s gifts and a grace from God. Faithful friends, who stand at our side in times of difficulty, are a reflection of the Lord’s love, His gentle and consoling presence in our lives.Men and women who pray know that hope is stronger than discouragement. They believe that love is more powerful than death, and that love will surely triumph one day, even if it be in times and ways we do not know. #Prayer
